Viviane Sassen

Viviane Sassen (Amsterdam, the Netherlands, 1972) studied fashion and photography at the Arnhem art academy and the Utrecht art academy repetitively, and subsequently gained a MA in Fine Arts at the Ateliers in Arnhem. Since then Sassen creates both autonomous work and work commissioned by well - known fashion magazines.

In recent years she has concentrated her autonomous work in Africa. Sassen travels to the continent where she grew up, meets people and tries to creep inside their skin, as it were. In the photographs she appears to come very close, and yet at the same time she maintains a veil of distance by playing with shadows.

Sassens work was exhibited at FIAC, Art Cologne, Artissimo Torino and Art Rotterdam via Motive Gallery, and recently at exhibitions in Hyères, Sydney and the Institut Néerlandais in Paris.

The exhibition in Foam was made possible in collaboration with Motive Gallery, Amsterdam by the name of Flamboya. With thanks to the DSM Art Collection and ®Claryl, the picture glass - a DSM brand and Amber Beckers (photography of the opening of the exhibition Flamboya)
