At the grand old age of 79, I'm still on the lookout for some great snapshots.
Even though the photo looks like a successful snapshot (which it is meant to, after all), there was a great deal of patience behind it. I was actually out and about hunting for good photos, taking advantage of the good light on this sunny day, and I spent a little while watching the ducks and swans.
The "Carnival of Cultures", which is always celebrated over the Whit Weekend, has been held in Berlin for many years. The event came about as a result of the increasing levels of immigration of people from all corners of the world. Today there are around 450,000 foreign nationals living in Berlin.
"That is the moment when, after a long period of time, you once again see a beautiful winter with lots of snow, a clear sky and sunshine. That is because this is usually destroyed by lots of rain and the "dreary" weather which follows."
"I took this shot with my small, fairly old Nikon D70 and an IR filter. I find this camera ideal for this exposure technique. On this particular day, we deliberately set out with the intention of taking IR photographs. The weather was perfect in terms of the light conditions and this was exactly the type of image I wanted to capture."
