Contest winner: Renate Braune
The Venice picture hangs directly opposite a large window; the garden would normally be completely reflected therein.
Almost no reflection can be seen with the special glass, it is really quite wonderful (I'm repeating myself, but it is also a real treat for the eyes). I was also very happy with the service of the Kretschmer gallery!
®claryl: Was the winning motif a spontaneous picture or were you out hunting for good photos?
RB: Even though the photo looks like a successful snapshot (which it is meant to, after all), there was a great deal of patience behind it. I was actually out and about hunting for good photos, taking advantage of the good light on this sunny day, and I spent a little while watching the ducks and swans. This is when I took this photo along with many others.
®claryl: Do you have a penchant for animal photography or natural motifs?
RB: Yes, natural and animal motifs are what I like best. Over the years, I have developed a particular love of nature and an eye for seemingly everyday little things that can always conjure up something special.
®claryl: How did you come up with the idea of submitting this picture on the theme of "spring cleaning"?
RB: I thought that it was an original idea to explore the animal kingdom with this theme in mind.
®claryl: What motivated you to send in a picture for the competition?
RB: I liked your Internet presentation and the competition presented a great opportunity for me to see whether my photo would be shortlisted. I am of course absolutely thrilled that I have won first prize with it and I would like to take this opportunity to offer my sincere thanks.
®claryl: What is it that makes photography special for you?
RB: Photography allows me to capture moments which are seemingly transient and yet keep memories alive.
